Miss Universe PH 2024 Chelsea Manalo joins PLDT Home at Kadayawan Festival 2024
The 39th Kadayawan Festival, presented by PLDT
Home, is going to be an amazing sensory experience for tourists and content
creators alike. It offers a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich
local culture during Davao City’s “King of Festivals.”
From August 7 to 18, the Kadayawan Festival gives local and
international visitors the chance to experience the beautiful colors, sounds,
and tastes of the region. Kadayawan features the 11 tribes or indigenous people
of Davao, namely Bagobo-Tagabawa, Sama, Ata, Tausug, Bagobo, Itanun, Kagan,
Maranao, Matigsalug, Obu Manuvu, and Maguindanaon. It is the modern, urban
adaptation of their celebration of a bountiful harvest.
PLDT Home, a proud partner of this year’s Kadayawan
Festival, hosting several exciting events in the city, including the
much-anticipated Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant.
On August 16, PLDT Home awards the title “Hiyas ng PLDT” to
Jane Rose Miones representing the Bagobo-Plata tribe at the Hiyas ng Kadayawan,
a unique beauty pageant in search of the modern Davaoeña who embodies the qualities of a perfect role model. Young and
accomplished women representing the 11 communities of Davao compete for the
title while showcasing their own tribe. The talent contest, for instance,
includes performing arts such as singkil, a colorful ethnic dance originating
from the Maranao people.
On August 17,
Miss Univers Philippines 2024, Chelsea Manalo joins for a media luncheon to
spotlight PLDT Home’s exciting Kadayawan Festival initiatives. Manalo will
unveil the Kadayawan Festival Sale which offers a P3,600 discount on Fiber Unli
All Plan 1399 installations for the whole month of August. Following the media
luncheon, the beauty queen will visit the pDLT Smart Ponciano Store at 2PM and
the NCCC Mall Victoria Plaza Booth at 3PM before concluding her day at the PLDT
Home main booth in Ramon Magsaysay Park. To increase accessibility to customers, PLDT Home will also mount booths in strategic locations throughout
the Kadayawan Festival.

streets with their rhythmic movements during the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan or
street dancing competition as the culmination of Davaoeños thanksgiving for a
bountiful harvest and a celebration of vibrant local culture. The iconic malong
complements the festive atmosphere.
Davao’s culinary
scene is equally captivating. It offers a diverse array of flavors influenced
by indigenous, Malay, and Spanish cultures. From the polarizing durian to the
beloved pomelo, the region boasts an abundance of fresh produce. Seafood
enthusiasts will delight in grilled delicacies like inihaw na panga, while
adventurous palates can explore exotic options such as crocodile sisig, Coffee
