MILO Kapihan with Mindanao Media at Apo View Hotel, Davao City

On April 29, 2025, I had the privilege of attending the MILO Kapihan with Mindanao Media at Apo View Hotel in Davao City. As a mom, I‘ve always known MILO as that energy-boosting drink we grew up with, but now I see it in a whole new light. MILO isn’t just a drink; it is a movement. A powerful one that has been building champions in life for 61 years now.

Why MILO Matters to Moms Like Us

MILO believes that sports are more than just play. It’s a way for kids to learn important life values like discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and grit, things that we, as parents, try to teach our children every day. And through their programs, MILO is helping nourish our kids not just physically, but also emotionally and mentally, preparing them to face life’s challenges.

MILO Active Pilipinas: Sports for All

One of the key highlights of the event was the introduction of MILO Active Pilipinas, a nationwide campaign that’s breaking barriers to make sports more accessible to kids across the country. With a goal to reach 3 million kids by 2025. MILO is making sure no child is left behind when it comes to physical activity and values education.

Programs under MILO Active Pilipinas include:

National MILO Marathon – the country’s biggest and longest-running marathon that welcomes runners of all ages and abilities, including over 300 PWD participants in the recent Manila leg.

MILO Sports Clinics – with 1,000 classes nationwide and 35 sports to choose from, these clinics help kids discover and grow their talents. New additions like pole vaulting, skateboarding, and bowling make things even more exciting! You can also check milo.com.ph/Sports-Clinics to check what kinds of sports they offer and what locations are available.

MILO Barangay Liga – a grassroots basketball program that reaches over 200,000 youth athletes in 200+ barangays, complete with court refurbishing projects in partnership with Boysen Paint.

MILO Safe Swim – a timely and important initiative teaching 3,600 kids water safety and drowning prevention in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross. As a mom, I find this very encouraging!

What’s in Store for Mindanao?

It was heartwarming to hear that Mindanao is a big part of MILO’s grassroots sports plans this year. Here is a sneak peek of what is coming:

1. MILO Marathon with PSC: Walk, Run, and Roll in Surigao (July 20)

2. 1st Mindanao Cheerdance Champions in Davao

3. Gymnastics Camp in Cagayan de Oro (June)

4. Upcoming Karate, Taekwondo, and Swimming Championships

5. Football Cup in South Mindanao

6. Zamboanga Basketball Tournament

Attending the MILO Kapihan reminded me that supporting our children’s growth doesn’t always mean academic success alone. Giving them the chance to play, sweat, compete, and learn through sports can shape them into strong, confident, and value-driven individuals.

As moms, we want nothing more than to see our kids thrive, and with MILO’s continued dedication to grassroots sports, we’re one step closer to raising a healthier, more empowered generation of champions.
