New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) is a
homegrown shopping mall in Davao City. They are known for their supermarket in
which they sell affordable items compared to other supermarkets. They are also
known for selling bulk items for sari-sari stores or Small Medium Enterprises
(SME). When the fire happened last 2017, Dabawenyos were unhappy about it.
Last December 15, 2021, NCCC Group of
Companies held an online press launch for NCCC Mall Ma-a. They were excited to
show the new transformation of NCCC Mall Ma-a. The new mall will have a new
unique look designed by ASYA Design. The new look is inspired by the habitat
and way of life of Davao City’s icon – the Philippine Eagle, which symbolizes a
sense of courage, a desire to explore, and a season of renewal. The NCCC Mall
Ma-a thrives to see things from a new and higher perspective. They want to
stretch their limits to have room for growth.

The new mall will still be located at McArthur
Highway, corner Ma-a Road, Davao City. The 28,223.24 sqm lot area will have
four floors; the ground level will be the area for supermarkets and food shops.
The second level is for fashion and apparel. On the third level is The Nook,
where shoppers can enjoy a variety of the best Asian cuisine experience from
traditional Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, and Thai dishes. It
is also an area for Services and an Entertainment Zone for Cinema, Arcade, and
Bowling. The Forth level will have The Nest, where shoppers can take a peek at
Davao's Skyline view while dining or simply relaxing in the area. It also has a
Sky Gymnasium with four sports courts that can accommodate simultaneously to
basketball, volleyball, and badminton enthusiasts.
The new NCCC Mall Ma-a will be the first
shopping mall in Mindanao to have LED Billboards on both mall façade and
floors. It will also be environment-friendly to cultivate the culture if No to
single-use, non-recyclable plastics. The new mall will accommodate
approximately 200 shops and 823 parking slots in the basement area. The new
mall is targeted to complete in the fourth quarter of 2024. It will be good
news and an opportunity for new employment for our fellow Dabawenyos.
