Sharing My Passion for Arts and Crafting: A Heartwarming Experience with the Davao Bloggers Society

0

As someone who has always found comfort and joy in arts and crafts, being able to share this passion with others is a dream come true. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with the Davao BloggersSociety during their community drive at the Field of Dreams Children’s CharityFoundation. This experience was not only a chance to give back but also a deeply personal milestone for me.

The event, held on July 27, 2024, was a testament to the power of community and compassion. The Davao Bloggers Society, in partnership with various esteemed brands, organized a day full of activities and generous donations, all aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of the children at the foundation. From medical check-ups provided by Davao Doctors Hospital to meals sponsored by Ripple8, every detail was thoughtfully planned to ensure the children had a memorable day.

One of the activities lined up during the community drive was a DIY bookmark-making session, led by yours truly. I was able to guide the kids in crafting cute minion bookmarks, adding personal skill to their reading adventures. This activity not only sparked creativity but also encouraged a love for reading among the children. I was happy to be part of this community drive, teaching the kids as they explored their artistic talents. It was heartwarming to see their faces light up as they created something beautiful with their own hands.

I must admit, this was the first time I did a minimal nervous presentation in front of a crowd. Standing before the children and my fellow volunteers, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. But as I saw the kids eagerly participating and enjoying the activity, my anxiety melted away. It was a moment of personal growth for me, and I’m grateful for the support and encouragement I received from everyone involved.

The Davao Bloggers Society members didn’t just stop at organizing activities; they also made generous donations that would have a lasting impact on the children. Books were donated, giving the kids new stories to explore and enjoy. Additionally, the society extended its support by donating snacks, canned goods, cleaning materials, school supplies, medical kits, and more. These contributions will significantly enhance the living conditions and daily experiences of the orphans at the foundation.

The event featured a special program organized by DBS, including a magic show and performances by the children, showcasing their talents through dances and songs. To cap the day, the children sang a special thank you song to DBS and its partners, a touching moment that highlighted the deep gratitude and appreciation felt by everyone present.

As a volunteer, I am incredibly proud to have been part of this initiative. The Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation provides shelter and care for children aged 7-19, many of whom have been abandoned or neglected. Knowing that our efforts, no matter how small, can make a difference in their lives is profoundly fulfilling.

The Davao Bloggers Society, under the leadership of President Gem Tadefa and Secretary Pauline Balayon-Ruta, continues to embody the spirit of community and compassion. Their dedication to giving back is truly inspiring, and I am honored to have contributed to this event. This experience has deepened my commitment to using my love for arts and crafts to bring joy and support to others, and I look forward to more opportunities to share this passion in meaningful ways.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Davao Bloggers Society, the Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation, and all the partners who made this event possible. Together, we created a day filled with love, laughter, and learning. One that I will cherish for years to come.
