DIY Minion Bookmark: A Fun and Easy Craft for All Ages

0

During one of my late-night Pinterest scrolls, I stumbled upon a delightful DIY Minion bookmark that instantly caught my eye. I searched for the perfect bookmark design to present at the Davao BloggersSociety Corporate Social Responsibility Program last July 29 at the Field of Dreams Children Charity Foundation, and this charming Minion idea seemed perfect. Not only is it a fun craft, but it's also a fantastic way to bond with your kids. Crafting together encourages creativity and, in this case, can also promote a love for reading. Whether you’re making it for yourself or with your little ones, this DIY Minion bookmark is a simple yet delightful project that will bring joy to your reading sessions.

Materials Needed:

Yellow cartolina

Blue cartolina

White cartolina

Black cartolina

Glue

Black marker

Black pen

Wiggle eyes

Scissors

Black yarn

Double-sided tape

Ruler

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Body

-Start by cutting a strip of yellow cartolina about 5 cm wide and 16 cm long. This will be the base of your Minion bookmark.

2. Create the Overalls

   - Cut a piece of blue cartolina slightly shorter than the yellow strip, about 5 cm wide and 7 cm long. This will be the Minion's overalls.

   - Cut out a small rectangle from the top center of the blue strip to create the shape of the overalls.

   - Using glue, attach the blue cartolina to the bottom half of the yellow strip.

3. Make the Eyes:

   - From the white cartolina, cut out two small circles (about 1.5 cm in diameter) for the Minion's eyes.

   - Stick the wiggle eye using double-sided tape.

   - For the goggles, cut thin strips of black cartolina and form a band that will go across the Minion's face, attaching the eyes in the middle. Use glue or double-sided tape to secure them in place on the yellow cartolina, just above the overalls.

4. Add Details:

   - Draw a smile or any other facial expression using a black pen or cut out half a circle of a black cartolina to give your Minion some personality.

   - Use the black marker to draw on the straps of the overalls and any additional details like pockets or buttons.

5. Make the Hair:

   - Cut small pieces of black yarn (about 10-16 cm long) for the Minion's hair.

   - Use a puncher to create a hole at the upper area of the bookmark. Attach the yarn piece to the top of the yellow cartolina.

6. Final Touches:

   - Ensure all the elements are securely glued and let it dry completely before using your bookmark.

And there you have it, Lovelies! Your very own DIY Minion bookmark is not only adorable but also a great way to encourage kids and even adults to dive into a good book. This craft is perfect for a fun-filled afternoon with your little ones or as a personal project to add a bit of creativity to your reading routine. Happy crafting, and happy reading!
